I somehow also get a lower resolution Google maps, when using Google Auto.
That was the reason I don't really use it.
For music and stuff, I just use Bluetooth
But good luck having Google add something as NewPipe to be allowed with Android Auto ;-)
There is actually a working YouTube client for android auto, but you have to "sideload" it
