It's a shit post

I think the message that this is trying to boil down to is "Something made by AI is not always inherently worse than something made by a human." Because a human is technically capable of making a sloppy piece with a 3D pen while a machine is technically capable of making a precise piece.

But I would argue that a 3D printer does not involve any artificial intelligence. A person created the original 3D model, and then an algorithm is instructing the printer how to reproduce that model. But an algorithm is not intelligence.

Slop ≠ sloppy, and the opposite of slop is not precise.

Unfortunately, its beginning to be a little more complicated than that, as there are prints that can be generated by AI now. Also, some software that detects print issues is probably using AI based tangle detection (pretty it actually is more AI based than just ML, but if anyone knows better let me know). The irony is that this is becoming a pretty good shit post due to that new difference.

More like machines bad, humans good. But that doesn't really apply well to 3D printing. Those pens are horrendous. Might also just be that I'm really crappy to draw things in general tho
