Wild that ATCs still rely on radio that can fail like that
As opposed to what? It's wireless communication; you don't get a choice about whether it can fail or not.
well not without some sort of AI-powered tech inside, that's all it's missing. obviously
From what I’ve heard if two people talk at the same time they cancel each other out. Plus, neither side can confirm if the other side heard them. I’d think some sort of text based system where you can acknowledge that you received the direction would be better.
That's why you say "over" at the end of every transmission.
I’ve watched enough airplane accident videos to know that they don’t say over. Also it can result in one side literally not hearing the other side at all
How does saying over result in not hearing the other?
Also, you say "roger" to confirm you heard something. If the other side doesn't say roger, you repeat the transmission or say "sayback" to have them confirm what they heard.
And if you missed a transmission or it wasn't clear, you say "say again your last."
orrrr, we use a voice based confirmation system. Like having the person repeat the important information back to them using the same radio.
gosh, darn! That won't work. Not enough AI or Blockchain. Silly me. Back to the drawing board...
