Asking from the perspective of an outsider (I do not follow US politics as much as a native might), but is the frenzy around Graham Platner justified? (sh.itjust.works)

Let's just say I currently live in a society that probably saw people debate over horseshoe theory only to respond with "hold my beer". It would make MacArthur look like a softy. So then suddenly everything there is for both sides to say about Graham Platner we hear all at once. In such a dilemma where you have both sides willing to go so far as to claim the other is concern-trolling, which side is the actual guilty one?

Platner filed to run in the Democratic primary and initially faced opposition from establishment figures within the Democratic Party, who supported another candidate, but he continued his campaign, gained support, and ultimately became the presumptive nominee after his main rival withdrew.
