I mean… perhaps it’s also because Putin’s regime is demonstrably WAY better at doing autocracy and more or less sustaining their economy. The orangeboi regime has succeeded in nuking significant parts of the US economy, and when it’s pointed out, they just say “no it’s not, it’s fine”. So maybe they’re trying to pick up a few lessons.
