But how is that the mayors fault?

Language and rhetoric matter. Antisemitism is on the rise and has taken center stage in communities because of October 7th and Israels following continuance of their genocide of the Palestinian people. Governments have gone out of their way to make sure they are highlighting a focus on antisemitism.

Simultaneously, Islamaphobia is basically state sponsored policy in the United States, goes on regularly at ALL levels of government, and people are almost more shocked when they don't see it versus when they do. And its been this way for a quarter century in the US.

But we're not allowed to talk about Islamophobia the same way we are antisemitism. If we're lucky a reporter will have followed up with this individual so they can speak for themselves.
