So, my options are iPhone or Graphene?

  • iphone (thats still big tech tho)
  • pixel/motorola with grapheneos (privacy/security focused libre android distro)
  • other android distros like lineageos or /e/os (private libre android distros) or replicant (fully libre gnu approved android fork)
  • linux phone (non-android linux distros such as postmarketos, ubuntu touch, mobian, fedora phone, arch arm, etc)

I m trying SailfishOS with the new Jolla Phone. Only a suitable choice for nerds I suppose, but that's not an issue for me.

How's banking working on Sailfish? Seriously considering Jolla for my next phone but it must work with my bank app.

Depends on your bank. Many Apps work with compatibility layer, some don't. There is a community compiled comoatibility list: https://forum.sailfishos.org/t/banking-apps-on-sailfish-os/18438

Me personally, I like to get rid of my banking app entirely. Maybe I am old but I do banking onky on my Desktop system anyway.

I move around quite a bit and pack light so my desktop/laptop are not always an option. Sad as it may be, my phone is pretty much my main computer.

Probably not that good, because unless your bank can be run fully through the web it will probably detect exactly the same (maybe more) things that wouldn't go through on things like Graphene.
