This is just the next step in the “inverse discrimination” mindset.

It's not an inverse discrimination thing, it's a very recent phenomenon where women are outperforming men in education. It's a difficult topic to broach because, yes, it can come across as very "meninist" or inverse discrimination-y, but it is a real phenomenon.

Especially in more liberal areas where young women aren't just starting to outperform in education, but in earnings as well. This is limited to areas which are liberal and wealthy, and has only appeared in the last 5-10 years or so, but it's a real trend.

I don't think anyone is saying that men have it worse off on average, but young boys in the education system are absolutely starting to fall behind, and it's starting to affect them once they leave the education system as well. It's not political to acknowledge that fact.

As a feminist myself I'm big on the whole equality thing so it's obviously a bit concerning seeing these boys fall behind. If the trend continues we could see men becoming disadvantaged financially not dissimilarly to how women have been - and still are in most cases.

If you look at the overall gender pay gap you might believe that this is a good thing as it brings the average woman closer to the average man, but when looking at peers within the same age groups: yes, young women are starting to outperform men income-wise.

All that being said, of course women still have it worse in most cases. This is not about one-upping or competing based on levels of discrimination, but about spotting a trend and course correcting before too many people are disadvantaged based only on their gender.

You should probably spend a little more time listening, and a little less time stuffing your words into other people's mouths.
