A place for all those who loathe AI to discuss things, post articles, and ridicule the AI hype. Proud supporter of working people. And proud booer of SXSW 2024.
AI, in this case, refers to LLMs, GPT technology, and anything listed as "AI" meant to increase market valuations.

Unless it’s guns then entire countries base their personalities on them.
I think you’re thinking of an ideal world or a utopia.
You could make the argument that guns have more responsibilities tied to them.
If you where to leave a loaded gun out on the table, and someone where to steal it off your table you would also be held liable for the crime because it wasn't locked away in a gun safe unloaded.
LLMs are the equivalent of handing out a loaded gun to everyone for free, even if they adamantly don't want one. People like Sam Altmann and elon musk who keep pushing for this garbage to be your therapist and the only way to interact with life should face serious consequences like life in prison, and the companies they run should get a fine that's impossibly large to pay off just like how infowars got a 500billion dollar fine. Info wars and chatgpt are pretty much the same product.
You can choose to not use them.
You can choose not to respond to every comment.
You can choose not to respond to my text if you didn't care enough to address the underlying point.
Also I don't have to use it or I should get used to it or it will replace my job what is it.
Guns cause suicidal and homicidal behavior but they’re still on the market.
That’s the point I was making before you jumped into the conversation.
All that time and you didn't ALSO mention that gun manufacturers are protected from law suits in the United States.
Can't hold them accountable, gotta repeat talking points that don't solve anything. Holding them accountable would solve too much, and we cannot have that.
The one lawsuit I'm familiar with was suing a company because its ADVERTISING was a bit suspect.
I think guns should be regulated out of existence.
The only purpose of a real guns is to kill people. People will use guns to kill other people (and themselves). BUT I don't see where just manufacturing a legal product that is used as intended and widely recognized is a lawsuit. It just seems like a desperate effort at regulation in a politically and judicially hostile environment.
Similarly, maybe LLMs are the same way--they will ALWAYS hallucinate and say crazy shit and there is no fixing that. In that case, they need to be heavily regulated and/or banned, and the only thing you can sue LLM companies for is not disclosing the risks and misrepresenting the product.
You cant universally ban or regulate open source guns or LLMs. You can only make the economically unviable at scale. It aint hard to make homemade bullets or an LLM. It just takes knowledge, and knowledge cannot be banned or regulated.
Yeah, people like me need to remember that banning things just leads to people going to jail and that is often worse for them than whatever they were going to jail for.
People who make open source LLMs should rot in prison, I agree. People who download open source gun files should be arrested with terrorist or otherwise murdurous intentions. And the state that is big enough to find these people is justified.
We need Flock cameras, but for the internet and everyone who uses it, ~~spying on~~ surveilling all internet traffic to watch downloads and uploads of guns and LLMs everywhere. If you have nothing to hide, you have nothing to fear, right?
We need to regulate the internet to catch the terrorists. Republicans might just be on board! We all know this is what liberals want. Its just the matter of those republicans to get on board with big brother.
I dig your style, dude.
Ah we are on the same page I'm just slow.
My argument I was shoehorning into the conversation is guns are arguably safer even though the outcome is much more fatal and visceral.
We need more laws on guns in the states which unfortunately most people are against. But despite that there are more laws on regulating the saftey of guns and holding people accountable for their actions, than there is on ai
And in the usa trump insists on making it essentially illegal for the individual States to regulate Ai in any shape or form. At the same time Ai is getting forced down every sector including public schooling, all because of the oligarchy who needs all the world's resources not just most of it. So increasingly you can't just "not use it" which is a true statement I can at least make with guns.
