It really is hard to find a job where you can go home at the end of the day and feel like what you did that day has benefitted the human race at all.

I mean it definitely is. Yes those jobs have openings now, but if too many people switch then suddenly there are no more openings.

Also both of those positions require specific education and certifications. It's not always that easy to drop what you're doing and entirely reinvent your career

I'll also note that there are a number of nurses that feel that they can't actually make a difference because their days are spent running appeals against souless insurance companies or that anecdotally they just spend their time being yelled at by patients. I've also talked with teachers that have complained about sacrificing so much for the kids they teach only to have those very students abuse them or steal from them.

These folks are definitely more likely to actually make a difference, but it is far from easy or rewarding most of the time.
