A professor used white font to hide instructions to throw off students using an AI chatbot to cheat on their midterm.

The instructor included hidden text that the students could not read but that an LLM, which does not read at a visual, but at a data level, would find.

Are you implying that some students found that hidden text, and followed the directions thinking it was a challenge?

Watch the video. The text was "hidden" in the sense that it was the same color as the background. Meaning it would get caught by assistive devices like screen readers or anyone copy/pasting the instructions into a word processor in which they would actually construct their response. Too many possibilities for false positives without the students having any sort of evidence to back up their claims if they were to contest it.
