This is laughable. In January, Dr Lisa Su claimed than an AI technology was the most important technology in the last 50 years. Nope!

Good grief, has she not seen all the advances in medical technology in the last 50 years? Life saving technology? How can someone with such high qualifications be this stupid?
And on a side note, she also says ‘AI is for everyone’. if AI is for everyone, why doesn’t she champion for companies to stop putting AI technologies up behind paywalls and subscriptions? 🤔
The article is about AI specifically, not computers and the internet in general.

First off, the person who posted the article and commented is different than the first person who replied to your comment and I am a third user.
Second, the poster said advancements in medical technology is more important than AI. Medical technology includes all kinds of things like diagnostic tools, massive advancements in vaccines, the internet for sharing data, and all kinds of things that affect everyone. It was one example of something far more important than AI.
Oh ok I didn't follow the attributions. Still, it's hard to say Lisa Su is wrong, at least from a future perspective. Today, if AI (let's say post-2023 for the modern sense of AI) disappeared, we'd be rid of some AI slop but not all that much else would change. If we ask the same question in 2060, what answer do we get? IDK. If she said past 20 years instead of past 50, she'd probably be right. Amazon in 2006 was crushing local retail more or less the same way as now.
No I don't believe that sharing data by internet is a medical technology advance. MRNA vaccines are a real advance, but without them, we'd still have attenuated-virus vaccines like the Johnson & Johnson Covid vaccine. MRI was first developed in the 1970s, putting it in the 50 year window but not by much. Gene therapy is new but ultra specialized. There have been huge advances in cancer treatment, probably more important. I would say psychiatry and mental health understanding have gotten a lot better in the past 50 years and that's important, but it's hard to call that a technological advance per se.
