Then it should PCPSX or PSXPC, but the PCSX trips me up so hard. I hate it so much

Maybe, but it is meant as a portmanteau, and not just two abbreviations stuck together.

Like... if the National Aeronautics and Space Administration made a big light amplification by stimulated emission of radiation device, and decided to call it the NASER instead of NASALASER.
