Uncle Ted is a fun meme but individual action isn't a solution to systemic problems. His anarcho primitivist (I know he didn't claim the label, but c'mon) critiques are also founded on the flawed assumption that technology is the root of all evil. He harkens back to an idyllic past that never existed to justify his beliefs and actions. Sounds familiar, doesn't it? He's just leftist edgelord Elliot Rodgers. In terms of defense, this is how being ungovernable looks
Lol. He was NOT an anarchist.
In the same way that the zapatistas aren't anarchist but the venn diagram between zapatismo an anarchism is basically a circle? Or like how bookchin made a few tweaks to anarchism and called it communalism because he was annoyed with the popular individualist anarchist movements of the 70s-90s?
Sure, by that metric he isn't an anarchist (specifically an anprim, which is distinct from other flavors of anarchism) but the differences are vague
Communalism was meant to be a prescriptive response to what he saw as a lack of actionable ideas, and also a desire to carve out a piece of the "New Left" pie.
Bookchin also basically disavowed his entire philosophy in the 90s.
He was never Anarcho-primitivist though. His whole thing was that technology could/would allow humans to reduce conflict with nature.
I was referring to kaczynski with the anprim stuff, and I was definitely being a bit reductive with bookchin. I view communalism as another set of tools in the libertarian toolbox to build a horizontal society. There's just tons of overlap in the libertarian left sphere, ideology and praxis-wise
i was familiar with communalism (i used to consider myself a communalist) but i did not know the history. is The Communalist Project a good place to start reading or should i go in some proper order
Are you looking to read into the history or theory of communalism? The Communalist Project is a good place to start for theory, it's a pretty short essay though. Anything bookchin wrote in the mid-90s-00s is squarely in the Communalist arc of his theory. His early writings are also great though. You really can't go wrong with him
