I am a little shocked at the lack of solidarity I see between artists working in different mediums wrt genAI.
Musicians who would never use it to make music use it to make cover art
Graphic artists reach for it to make music over their videos
Writers use it to illustrate their articles
And, considering software development an art, many use it to create web sites or apps to host their art.
None of this is necessary. All of this is harmful to the other artists.
Collaborate ffs.

Artists are not endangered.
“Artists” who create nothing but non-unique, meaningless content and were hoping they can earn money this way for the next 40 years, are heavily endangered.
AI gan generate an XKCD comic. Or a somg Metallica would write. But both are worthless.
So if you are scared of GenAI, you were not that important to society in the first place.
Insult Randall Munroe in my presence again and you will feel the back of my hand.
XKCD stick convey more emotion in their non-existent faces than some fully rendered human characters I've seen (and if you think he draws stick figures because he doesn't know how to draw anything else, think again -- the man's an artist. He's also not bad at replicating other artists' styles. He draws stick figures because he wants to.)
And when you've written four published books purely out of a passion for teaching other people science, and made 20 years' worth of comics about all your autistic special interests and irrational fears and quirks of your thinking, then we can have a conversation about art being meaningless because it's perceived to be low quality.

You have tossed a Metallica song and an XKCD into the same bucket and declared the whole genera of translating present human experience into material expression as worthless. It doesn’t even seem you even believe that economically profitable art is worthwhile which even the most greedy bastards agree is worthwhile.
I’m going to guess you must be one of those transhumanists who hates themselves so much they believe being alive somehow only acceptable if you bring about the extinction of humanity via a technological apocalypse. eh account created one day ago, most likely someone's alt came here to troll. People can get angry at xkcd because they think very highly of themselves and then get frustrated when they don't understand it (instead of looking at xkcd explained which many people do lol).
