Example:

  1. Articles must be relevant to politics. Links must be to quality and original content. Articles should be worth reading. Clickbait, stub articles, and rehosted or stolen content are not allowed. Check your source for Reliability and Bias here.
  2. Be civil, No violations of TOS. It’s OK to say the subject of an article is behaving like a (pejorative, pejorative). It’s NOT OK to say another USER is (pejorative). Strong language is fine, just not directed at other members. Engage in good-faith and with respect! This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. 3. No memes, trolling, or low-effort comments. Reposts, misinformation, off-topic, trolling, or offensive. Similarly, if you see posts along these lines, do not engage. Going forward, slapfights will result in removed comments and temp bans to cool off.
  4. Vote based on comment quality, not agreement. This community aims to foster discussion; please reward people for putting effort into articulating their viewpoint, even if you disagree with it.
  5. No hate speech, slurs, celebrating death, advocating violence, or abusive language. This will result in a ban. Usernames containing racist, or inappropriate slurs will be banned without warning

All posts and comments will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. This means that some content that violates the rules may be allowed, while other content that does not violate the rules may be removed. The moderators retain the right to remove any content and ban users.

That's all the rules!

After Donald Trump on Tuesday suggested cities like Chicago should be used as "training grounds for our military," Gov. JB Pritzker said the 25th Amendment should be invoked to remove the president from office, saying "there is something genuinely wrong with this man."

"It appears that Donald Trump not only has dementia set in, but he's copying tactics of Vladimir Putin. Sending troops into cities, thinking that that's some sort of proving ground for war, or that indeed there's some sort of internal war going on in the United States is just, frankly, inane and I'm concerned for his health," Pritzker said Tuesday afternoon. "There is something genuinely wrong with this man, and the 25th Amendment ought to be invoked."

I'm willing to bet Vance doesn't get the blind worship that Trump gets from his followers.

If Trump goes down via something like the 25th amendment, or like, assassination, I can see the base rallying around Vance. But left to their own devices to pick a successor? Idk. The whole "Trump 2028" meme, as much as it's supposed to "trigger the libs," kinda shows a lack of confidence or at least excitement regarding Vance, and I can envision a contested primary, especially as things continue going towards shit and they have to find someone or something to blame.

Personally, I suspect that we've entered a period of one term presidents. There are systemic issues that will cause things to continue to get worse regardless of who's in charge (barring radical change) and at the modern pace of discourse, four years feels like an eternity.

It's a cult of personality, and Vance has all the charisma and personality of a couch.

[–] fluxion@lemmy.world 27 points 1 day ago (2 children)

And Trump has the personality of a sleezy used car salesman but apparently a lot of people are into that

[–] someguy3@lemmy.world 6 points 1 day ago

Poor man's idea of a rich man. Idiot's idea of a businessman. Weak man's idea of a strong man.

[–] Soulg@ani.social 11 points 1 day ago

Right, and Vance absolutely can not emulate it.

[–] JcbAzPx@lemmy.world 4 points 1 day ago

That's a roundabout way to tell him to go fuck himself.

Couch is his preference, not his personality. I'd describe it more as toad-like.

[–] JcbAzPx@lemmy.world 6 points 1 day ago

Also Vance is going to live long enough to face consequences.

Dude George W Bush was their guy two elections in a row.

There people are mindless lampreys just looking to latch onto anything that promises to hurt brown people.

[–] ChonkyOwlbear@lemmy.world 9 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Nobody was flying George Bush flags on their pickup trucks though. He didn't have the same cult of personality.

[–] TheGoldenV@lemmy.world 2 points 1 day ago

Nah, I remember seeing many “W” flags on bro dozers. It’s the same awful people.

[–] RaoulDuke@anarchist.nexus 22 points 1 day ago

He might unite the country in hating him.

[–] phutatorius@lemmy.zip 8 points 1 day ago

They're like geese, they'll follow anything that waddles in front of them.

[–] cmbabul@lemmy.world 7 points 1 day ago

I think its too late to hope on that point, maybe if they all fall to infighting between the tech bro, christian nationalist, and groyper factions they'll tear themselves apart but he would have to be removed very soon for the country to be salvaged into anything resembling the one we knew growing up

[–] slaneesh_is_right@lemmy.org 10 points 1 day ago

He needs to fuck some more kids first.
