Hold the phone. Is this the revelation that could solve all my sleep problems? Do you have a source perchance?
My only source is real-life observation, though I'm sure some time researching online would be illuminating.
But, yeah. It's worth a try. Try going completely without caffeine for at least a month, see if your sleep improves. Fair warning, though: it won't be easy. Caffeine withdrawals are not fun. Lots of feelings of lethargy and headaches along the way. But after the first week or so, that goes away, and then you can live happily without caffeine dependency. You can expect to feel like shit for the first week or so -- but that's normal, just part of the drug withdrawals, and you need to be off it for a while after that to truly experience what being caffeine-free feels like.
Personally, I gave up caffeine entirely* years and years ago, and I've felt much better since.
*Not absolutely caffeine free in all circumstances, though. If I absolutely need to stay awake -- such as when driving late at night -- I will occasionally drink one caffeinated drink to achieve that. But for me, that only happens once every few years or so. As long as it's only one occasional drink, the addiction doesn't really have time to take hold and it won't cause long-term problems.
You tell me. I think I've had at least one caffeinated drink a day for several months at least and tried going to a convention yesterday without having drank anything with caffeine until like 11pm - big mistake. I didn't have a headache, fortunately, but I was miserable the entire day. Got tired at like 4-5pm and just felt like sleeping for the rest of the day. It was so freaking draining.
The thing is, it doesn't feel like an addiction to me, but when I question the worthiness of drinking something without caffeine, oftentimes I think to myself "why bother if there's not even any caffeine in there?" which sounds a little alarming.
Your consumption sounds a lot more healthy in comparison. I should give this a try sometime, maybe do some more research too. Thank you for your insight 🌟
