Flippant Anarchism. A lighter take on social criticism with the aim of agitation.

Post humorous takes on capitalism and the states which prop it up. Memes, shitposting, screenshots of humorous good takes, discussions making fun of some reactionary online, it all works.

This community is anarchist-flavored. Reactionary takes won't be tolerated.

Don't take yourselves too seriously. Serious posts go to !anarchism@lemmy.dbzer0.com

  1. If you post images with text, endeavour to provide the alt-text

  2. If the image is a crosspost from an OP, Provide the source.

  3. Absolutely no right-wing jokes. This includes "Anarcho"-Capitalist concepts.

  4. Absolutely no redfash jokes. This includes anything that props up the capitalist ruling classes pretending to be communists.

  5. No bigotry whatsoever. See instance rules.

  6. This is an anarchist comm. You don't have to be an anarchist to post, but you should at least understand what anarchism actually is. We're not here to educate you.

  7. No shaming people for being anti-electoralism. This should be obvious from the above point but apparently we need to make it obvious to the turbolibs who can't control themselves. You have the rest of lemmy to moralize.

The art on the header seems AI? Will AI run the anrchoworld of the future?

Will AI run the anrchoworld of the future?

Hell no. We will decide our own fates. "No gods, no masters" applies to machine masters too.

Anarchists do not have a universal position on if, or to what extent, "AI" will play a role in our future, although we all agree, by virtue of our shared anarchism, that "AI" will not be dictating our future to us. My personal views are that:

  1. I reject the terminology "AI" because these systems are not intelligent in the ways that people and some animals are. Using this term gives power to the capitalists who currently control the most powerful of these systems. I prefer a term like "large language model driven system" for the current class of large scale generative language algorithms, e.g. Claude, ChatGPT, DeepSeek, and the various local LLM models. (The "driven" part refers to what "AI" companies call "agentic" systems, i.e. LLMs are usually part of a bigger system that is capable of taking real actions...but "agentic" is also capitalist marketing that attempts to say that these machines have agency like sentient beings do.)
  2. Because LLM driven systems are not intelligent, they cannot be held accountable for the actions they take. The responsibility lies with the human(s) operating the LLM driven system.
  3. LLM driven systems can be incredibly helpful for people who choose to work in highly technical fields, in particular coding and mathematics, with the caveat that hallucination is a mathematically inevitable systematic characteristic of these machines. In particular, I use LLMs as a LaTeX assistant.
  4. LLM driven systems have been deployed at an ecologically unsustainable pace and forced upon the proletariat, who mostly do not want or need these systems.
  5. The majority of LLM systems are controlled by the capitalist class and, like everything controlled by the capitalist class, must be expropriated by the proletariat. A small way of fighting back against capitalist centralization is to run your own LLMs if you have the hardware and the technical need for a LLM.
  6. I personally am basically completely disinterested in imagery generated by image generation models without further refinement by a sentient being. No disrespect to people who like generating images on your own machines, if that makes you happy then more power to you, but it's not my cup of tea. I personally value the continuous input of a real sentient being like myself in the art I consume.
  7. I would support replacing the header art in this community with a human-made image, although I don't feel that strongly either way. Even if it wasn't AI, it's been that image for a long time, so I think we're due an update. I think I've said this every time it's come up, but I don't think anyone has ever proposed a banner image in response. I'm not a mod so don't ask me lol, and even if I was, I would not unilaterally change the banner art without checking with the community about it.
  8. I write all my comments and posts on Lemmy with my autistic meat brain without LLM assistance because it is fun to do so. Yes, I actually write like this πŸ˜†

Very well. I've made one.

Thank you. It looks gorgeous πŸ₯°
