I think we should learn the lesson that covid taught us is possible. Shut everything down, shelter in place, guarantee food and housing (as you say), medical care, and education, but everything that is not absolutely essential can go to hell.

Like covid, the difficulty is getting enough other countries to go with the same plan to make it work. I don't think austerity for Canada would fix the world if the neighbours aren't doing it too.

WTF are you talking about? Lockdown worked for 10 days before everyone declared themselves essential. Tim hortons never locked down -shitty coffee is essential?

You get it! I'm not saying it would be painless, but we don't need most of the stuff we think we do. We don't need phones or cars or airplanes or diamond rings. We need food and housing. Even in a recession we have more than enough "money" for that.

I don't care about rich people things. Shelter and food. Anything else is a luxury.
