"We did it, Patrick! We made a technological breakthrough!"

A place for all those who loathe AI to discuss things, post articles, and ridicule the AI hype. Proud supporter of working people. And proud booer of SXSW 2024.

AI, in this case, refers to LLMs, GPT technology, and anything listed as "AI" meant to increase market valuations.

Psychosis is characterised by paranoia, I don't see paranoia here.

This person's perception of reality (as in hard facts) is intact. Their use of the term "F/O" confirms it. Where they differ from others is in their perception of norms, ethics, and other people's feelings. Which, to be fair, we can also consider part of "reality" in a social constructivist sense. Nonetheless, this behaviour would not meet the standard criteria for a delusion. This is actually an obsession and a severe lack of boundaries and empathy.

I don't think this person's mental illness has been discovered (or arguably, invented) yet. If we adopt a more dimensional approach rather than categorical, I would say this person is suffering from a social impairment, rather than a perceptual impairment. So, we're looking more in the realm of something like autism, plus a severe attachment problem.

But that's none of My business, because I'm just some rando. Nobody in this thread should be speculating on this person's mental health. We're not their doctors. We need to focus on their actions, which are gross and bad.

It could also just be immaturity. They've not yet figured out how to draw the boundary between fantasy and reality, and separate their idealised character from the VA. Or what things may be better kept to themselves.

Hmm. Ok, fair.

What are you on about? This is a classic case of AI psychosis and delusional thinking, unable to differentiate fact from fiction. Something you seem to have trouble with as well. They are absolutely mentally ill!
