I honestly think life is missing something without the magical worldview of religion. It's why I keep starting joke cults (that people end up taking way too seriously. No really, look up the cult of the whale in Utah. That was one of my more recent religious accidents) but like, the second you start substituting the "magic" for reality you end up in trouble.
I think some of the philosophy in scripture is pretty neat, like:
Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?”Bill replied: “‘Be excellent to each other'.This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: Party on, dudes!' All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.”
is not a bad basis for a code of morals.
