The UK will provide ~~defensive~~ military support to Saudi Arabia against ~~attacks~~ retaliation from Yemen's ~~Iran-backed Houthi rebels~~ government, the prime minister has confirmed.

Speaking to reporters while travelling to attend the United Nations General Assembly in New York, Andy Burnham said Saudi Arabia has requested support, "and on the advice of the defence secretary and the foreign secretary, last night I agreed to that request".

I just can't help but feel like this is a waste of resources and political capital for the UK government during such precarious times...

Apparently the UK is selling a lot of the bombs and planes to Saudi so that's likely the motivation for this emotional support operation.
