Hey, instead of arguing on Lemmy about who is being more useless, can we just try to stop the damn child killing machine together
Before grabbing my rifle, I'd appreciate it if people would at least try voting first.
Vote Democrat in the general election for harm reduction, and vote in the Democratic primaries to move the party left.
Gas prices are at record highs. Whatever your thoughts are on cars or how gas may still be too cheap considering the damage it causes or whatever, the reality is that high gas prices have historically been really bad for incumbent parties in mid-terms. With that and the historic disapproval rating of Trump, there hasn't been an election more primed for a flip than this one in our lifetimes.
It's why they're working so fucking hard to supress votes. They know they're in real trouble.
It has been two hundred years of trying voting and we're now 1943 Germany.
Simply be honest: there is nothing on Earth that would compel you to pick up your rifle just so long as it wasn't happening to you.
Democrats arent harm reduction
I've been voting in every major election since 2016, and I don't regret doing it but I do feel myself becoming more and more disillusioned each time about whether the sort of democratic machinery we've built is even capable of producing the sort of radical change the American empire desperately needs. I really can't blame people who've concluded that voting isn't going to work.
The degree to which BlueMaga has completely memory holed the entire 2020-24 period is impressive. Or it would be if liberals were ever capable of remembering something that happened more than a few weeks ago.
And there's that memory holing I was talking about.
How'd stopping fascism by winning the most important election of our lifetimes six years ago work out?
People have tried voting for hundreds of years. Not once has the working class had power, beyond perhaps the brief period of reconstruction before the capitalists in the north worked with the capitalists in the south to put a stop to it. The idea that the DNC can be "pushed left" is based on a belief that the state exists outside of class society, rather than being built upon it. The capitalist state isn't a capitalist state because capitalists control it, but because it is shaped and reinforced by the capitalist system it rests on top of. You cannot change that by simply changing who runs it.
