He doesn't support trans rights so we need to keep working on him until he does. He's obviously educable, and even willing to publicly change positions if he can be shown that the right thing will advance his ambitions. And at this point he's the most likely opponent to Trump and the GOP, so it's worth investing some effort in educating him. And/or work on making society in general more trans-friendly, because politicians do follow societal trends.
