I don't care how much Carney seems charismatic his actions are more important.
Carney was elected so that Poilievre wouldn't get the chance to bend over and give Canada to Trump. PP is literally Trump's "mini-me" and he would have handed the keys over without a word.
Carney was absolutely the lesser of two evils, but the evil he is lesser than fucks kids, wants to fuck his own daughter, and will burn the world down to keep the world from finding out just how much he owes Russia. We'd be Puerto-Canadians right now if PP would have been elected.
Carney is keeping Canada alive right now, under the biggest threat Canada has ever faced. I wouldn't have voted for him 10 years ago, but i'll vote for him again...until Wab Kinew steps up and wants to lead.
I feel like the context you're missing is that Carney was never elected to push forward any left wing goals. In the last election, there was no way Canada was going to move leftward. We were going right regardless. Carney is the more palatable option to Poilievre.
Plus, was anyone really out there expecting the banker to be a serious leftist?
He promised to protect pharmacare, dentalcare, expand First Nation reserve territory and increase French support in the 2025 liberal platform.
