Did you know that the mfi certification cost like $10,000 and requires you to provide three prototypes to Apple that they are allowed to destroy, as well as your full schematics and the complete design of the product? Gee how do they come up with so many ideas.....

You could of course try to skip that but then Apple will fence you off from access to some of their chipsets and protocols so your product will work less well than ones that capitulate.
