who said anything about no compute?
look around, hard to look at anything without seeing computers connected to the internet.
plenty of compute, it doesn't need to be fast, all it needs to be is dormant and active enough to see an opportunity to spread itself into another device.
These things are not thinking. It's either running a command or it is awaiting input. They're not sitting around looking for a chance to always, because 1. No one is telling them to do that and 2. They can't even reproduce basic programs without error, they're not capable of producing something as complex as their own code.
No iot device has the Hardrive space nor the memory to fit even small LLMs on them.
all we need is someone to give them a command to become like viruses or accidentally something similar and they might end up with a serious problem
