Technology
News community around technology, social media platforms, information technology and governmental policy surrounding it.
What doesn't fit here?
The core of the story has to be technology focused.
- If article mentions "AI" in a sentence and then talks about business economics that doesn't make it tech news.
- Gaming is too many layers removed from technology. There are many dedicated communities that are a better fit for it.
- Transporation is too many layers removed from technology. EVs while use many cool technologies have many dedicated communities that are a better fit for it.
- Entertainment is too many layers removed from technology. While sometimes it can fit here, business or cultural aspects of it are a better fit for dedicated communities.
- Cybersecurity. While it heavily focuses on technology, most of the time it's too technical for most people who are not already invested in it. Should be posted in a dedicated communities unless it has broader connection to other tech areas.

We should do the negative leap hour now, but do it right after completion of the US law moving everyone to permanent DST. Win - win.
You guys getting permanent DST? I'm so fucking jealous. Winter time here means dark by 4 PM and it doesn't even make sunrise early enough to see it after work.
on the other hand, during dst the sun isn't directly overhead at 12 and that would drive me insane
Let's do the time warp again.
If you’re dark at 4 pm, then you’re only getting 8 hours of sunlight. Someone is going to be getting up in the dark, getting home from work in the dark, or both if your employer manages to time your particular work day just right.
What you need is “Personal Daylight Time" or PDT. See, we just need to put an abstraction layer between the icky science of the earth rotating and the sun being overhead at a particular time each day, which can be terribly annoying for those who talked through science class in 3rd grade.
Everyone who wants something other than "Standard" time just puts the times they'd like the sun to rise and set each day. The app then maps those times to the local sunrise and sunset. When you get your work schedule or dinner reservation, the app converts from the (completely unreadable) standard time based on your location on earth to your personal time which you feel maximizes your personal enjoyment. Likewise, you can send an invite in your time, and the recipient will see it in their time.
It's just like having Google Calendar manage times zones for you when you have a distant Zoom call. Simple, no?
*Note: you will experience faster or slower personal seconds throughout the day depending on your preferred sunrise and sunset days, and it will vary by day.
