I've been using GIMP for 15 years and it's a great tool for image editing. It doesn't have the cool AI functions that Photoshop had even before generative AI became a thing, but for most common and advanced image editing needs, it's a perfectly suitable tool.
AI or not GIMP is garbage. Basically every new normie opens it up, sees the interface and nopes out back into Photoshop
Actually most people don't pay for or pirate Photoshop and most people need at least light photo editing
In that case, user nopes out and goes back to Paint
