So a lot of online shopping sites have this whole programmed flow chart to influence shopping behavior, which can be gamed relatively easy. The easiest and most common is just to simply make sure your email is linked to the cart and abandon the cart. This will often lead to a deal on the specific item or a coupon for some amount off.
This has been taken to an entirely different level by people I presume were formally store couponers. There are entire friend groups, message boards, etc. that are just based on people employing these tricks and getting items for extremely cheap or even free shipped before the company realizes the issues.
