Example:

  1. Articles must be relevant to politics. Links must be to quality and original content. Articles should be worth reading. Clickbait, stub articles, and rehosted or stolen content are not allowed. Check your source for Reliability and Bias here.

Donald Trump posting a week-old photo has heightened scrutiny of his health.

Amid continued concerns about his physical well-being, Trump posted an image of himself playing golf with a former football coach.

But, given the photo was taken a week ago, people raised concerns about a potential attempt to hoodwink the public about the true state of the president's condition.

I'd love for this to be real, but Newsweek is absolute trash right now. If they are right about something it's probably by accident.

[–] mister_flibble@sh.itjust.works 56 points 4 days ago (2 children)

I suspect he's genuinely unwell. The man is, above all else, a complete and utter attention whore and this is a rumor that could be immediately dispelled by him doing a loud, showy, public spectacle. That should be like Chistmas for him; it's basically the universe giving him PERMISSION to do one of those fascism pep rallies he's so fond of, and yet he hasn't gone for it. Why?

I don't think he's actually dead but I do think he's in a bad way.

[–] bear@lemmy.blahaj.zone 43 points 4 days ago (3 children)

My guess is he had another stroke, and he is hoping his speech will recover to the point that it's not obvious.

When he got COVID the first time he made an appearance while he could barely stand and breathe.

When he got COVID the first time he made an appearance while he could barely stand and breathe.

100% this. That and his deep and abiding narcissism. His sycophants keep saying he's the most accessible and transparent POTUS ever, but it's just because the guy is absolutely THIRSTY to be in front of cameras at all times.

If something was not going on, he'd be racing to be in front of those cameras already.

[–] DancingBear@midwest.social 4 points 4 days ago

Wouldn’t take much

[–] phx@lemmy.ca 1 points 4 days ago

I mean, would we even be able to tell it apart from his usual rambling?

[–] Geobloke@aussie.zone 9 points 4 days ago

He might have had some routine surgery, probably not uncommon for someone his age, but his vanity won't allow himself to appear weak

[–] givesomefucks@lemmy.world 21 points 4 days ago (2 children)

What's to disbelieve?

You think the picture wasn't taken a week ago?

[–] dhork@lemmy.world 38 points 4 days ago (2 children)

No, I dont believe he'e on death's door. He will probably live to be 100, because life isn't fair.

[–] Hylactor@sopuli.xyz 39 points 4 days ago (1 children)

Well, frankly him dying now, having avoided all real consequences his entire miserable life, having contributed nothing positive to planet earth, lying and raping his way all the way up to the highest office in the contry, is also not fair.

[–] dhork@lemmy.world 7 points 4 days ago (1 children)

Life isn't fair, Your Highness. Anyone who says otherwise is selling something.

[–] corsicanguppy@lemmy.ca 2 points 4 days ago

Get used to disappointment? (Wrong scene, I know)

[–] givesomefucks@lemmy.world -4 points 4 days ago (2 children)

No, I dont believe he’e on death’s door

Where did you see the article say that?

I don't understand any of your complaints, you might as well be complaining a gorilla can't play in the NFL....

[–] echutaaa@sh.itjust.works 8 points 4 days ago (1 children)

Did you read the title?

Donald Trump Posting Week-Old Photo Raises Eyebrows Amid Health Speculation

[–] givesomefucks@lemmy.world 3 points 4 days ago* (last edited 4 days ago) (2 children)

...

To you, that headline, and a headline that says "trump is on death's door"...

Those, those are the same to you? You read both and think they say the same thing?

Don't get me wrong, Newsweek is shit, but that's not the problem here and the problem is much more concerning.

[–] angrystego@lemmy.world 1 points 4 days ago

To be fair, they're talking about a major medical episode in the article. That does mean life-threatening to me.

[–] CannonFodder@lemmy.world 1 points 4 days ago (1 children)

Of course they mean the same thing, just to differing degrees. What else do you think the first headline is referring to?

[–] givesomefucks@lemmy.world 0 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Of course they mean the same thing,

...

They don't bud...

That's just, how language works

[–] CannonFodder@lemmy.world 1 points 3 days ago

Ever heard of nuance?

[–] dhork@lemmy.world 2 points 4 days ago* (last edited 4 days ago) (1 children)

You fucker, you made me give them a click

Travis Akers, a retired U.S. Navy intelligence officer wrote: "I'm not a conspiracy theory guy, but if you're fighting off increasing rumors that you may have suffered a major medical episode and to disprove that rumor and provide proof of life, you post a picture of allegedly playing golf with Jon Gruden today, it would be beneficial to post one that wasn't from August 23rd."

This is what passes for "Journalism" at Newsweek these days ....

[–] givesomefucks@lemmy.world 4 points 4 days ago* (last edited 4 days ago) (2 children)

A quote from a retired intelligencer pointing out the picture is a week old and lazy/bad propaganda...

Yes, that is literally what we describe with the word "journalism"...

This is literally like if Faux News said the sun was coming up tomorrow, so you scamper off to prepare for 1,000 days of darkness and the return of Baphomet.

Just because so one lies 90% of the time doesn't mean 100% of what they say is the opposite of truth.

You get that, right?

Because I'm about to quit trying.

[–] corsicanguppy@lemmy.ca 2 points 4 days ago

I'm about to quit trying.

Literally?

[–] dhork@lemmy.world -2 points 4 days ago (1 children)

You probably think that the local news reading social media posts on air is "journalism" too....

[–] P00ptart@lemmy.world 1 points 4 days ago* (last edited 4 days ago) (1 children)

It can be, depending on the subject matter, timing etc. Reddit had a big hand in the Boston Marathon bombers capture.

[–] AbidanYre@lemmy.world 2 points 4 days ago

Only if you consider accusing a dead college student to be having a big hand.

[–] blitzen@lemmy.ca 3 points 4 days ago (2 children)

The self-assigned “bias meter” at the bottom of the page is trash.

[–] AbidanYre@lemmy.world 1 points 4 days ago (1 children)

It defaults to hard left until you vote.

Still garbage, but not in the way people seem to think.

[–] blitzen@lemmy.ca 2 points 4 days ago

That’s worse than I imagined.
