Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban.
- No memes, trolling, or low-effort comments. Reposts, misinformation, off-topic, trolling, or offensive. Similarly, if you see posts along these lines, do not engage. Report them, block them, and live a happier life than they do. We see too many slapfights that boil down to "Mom! He's bugging me!" and "I'm not touching you!" Going forward, slapfights will result in removed comments and temp bans to cool off.
- Vote based on comment quality, not agreement. This community aims to foster discussion; please reward people for putting effort into articulating their viewpoint, even if you disagree with it.
- No hate speech, slurs, celebrating death, advocating violence, or abusive language. This will result in a ban. Usernames containing racist, or inappropriate slurs will be banned without warning
We ask that the users report any comment or post that violate the rules, to use critical thinking when reading, posting or commenting. Users that post off-topic spam, advocate violence, have multiple comments or posts removed, weaponize reports or violate the code of conduct will be banned.
All posts and comments will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. This means that some content that violates the rules may be allowed, while other content that does not violate the rules may be removed. The moderators retain the right to remove any content and ban users.

I greatly fear that if AOC were to run, the terminally online left would pull the rug out from under her.
Any time she's ever done any action that went not 100% in favor of the delusional mindset of idiots who think single politicians can usher in perfect communism, the TOL screamed bloody murder and withdrew all support and hype.

And notice how that was irrelevant to his election and then later opinion polls? Tankies are a tiny sliver of the progressive left. Like my entire real life social circle leans strongly progressive and not a single one even filters through the shadow of a tankie position. People who would literally like Communism to be on the political table still aren't tankies.
That doesn't mean progressives are irrelevant, just that 'tankies' are used as a Boogeyman by conservative online Democrats to simultaneously explain all their failures while also saying we should keep listening to them when they counsel doing exactly the same thing one more time.
I'm not sure the terminally online left you mention make up a significant enough portion of any electorate to impact the race in this way.

Gavin Newsom is pro-Israel, pro-billionaire and pro-blue MAGA while also being anti-universal healthcare, anti-taxing the rich and anti-charisma when left to his own vices.
My sincerest fear is a repeat of the 2020 primaries. Ro Khanna or some other Bernie esc politician will run for the ticket and the left will once again divide themselves into oblivion. Bernie could still have won 2020 if the left didn't stupidly allow itself to split between Elizabeth Warren, Tulsi Gabbard, and Andrew Yang.
Instead Newsom will win because the left loves defeat and hates unity.
The actual left is almost completely irrelevant to any election
