Probably not. It would've let to many people leaving windows earlier. Many people have thousands of bucks worth of games on steam. I don't think they would've just left them.

Oh absolutely. The reason i preferred Windows over Mac when I was younger was being able to use what I want (in a general sense). If they did that, I'd immediately have jumped to Linux. And even though it didn't happen, it just delayed the inevitable, as I'm migrating every piece of tech I own away from the Big Guys^tm^.
