Even if they are able to get by from this year's harvest they still have no market to sale next year's harvest. That's the problem. Farming has become so industrialized, farmers are locked into what they will be growing for a min 5 years. All the seed, equipment, machinery, loans, labor, contracts, and so much more are all tied into one product. Trump killing their market means even the smallest "family" farm is screwed if they sold more than ~10% overseas. The margins on farming are so low anything more and the farmer is essentially paying the consumer.

But also. Farmers overwhelmingly voted for this, soooooo now FAFO.
