Son of a South African emerald mine tycoon, AFAIK family moved to Canada in his youth, then he moved to the US.
I feel bad for any non-white employee of SpaceX, Starlink etc. who feels they cannot quit due to living expenses. If I were in their shoes and could get another job, I'd be leaving ASAP.
His mother is Canadian.
He later moved to Canada when he was old enough to leave and then other family members followed to NA later.
And he lied on his US visa application.
