Time for all those 2A, Castle Doctrine, "tally-ho lads!" types to start defending their homes, right?

........right?

[–] shittydwarf@piefed.social 68 points 1 week ago (2 children)

The tyranny that they were always talking about has finally arrived so surely any moment now

[–] adespoton@lemmy.ca 40 points 1 week ago

Except all those castle doctrine types are the ones in the ICE gear.

[–] Soulg@ani.social 5 points 1 week ago

They're the ones implementing the tyranny

[–] nondescripthandle@lemmy.dbzer0.com 50 points 1 week ago (1 children)

For this particular instance can I interest you in some Rolf?

[–] Blackfeathr@lemmy.world 19 points 1 week ago

I can hear this image

[–] AnchoriteMagus@lemmy.world 22 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Just as the Founding Fathers intended.

[–] potatopotato@sh.itjust.works 16 points 1 week ago (2 children)

Sitting on Lemmy waiting for some 338LM brass to dry in the oven then I'm back to the press to fill and seat everything. Have been putting off loading for my precision rig but recent events have introduced some new urgency to that task.

[–] AnchoriteMagus@lemmy.world 13 points 1 week ago (1 children)

I hear ya. All of a sudden projects that have been "some day" turned into "right the hell now".

[–] nondescripthandle@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 points 1 week ago (1 children)

This is part of why I like buy once cry once, and extend that logic it to fully setting up each platform with whichever accessories I think it needs to be complete. Doesn't eliminate all projects or anything but it's a habit I wanted to build.

[–] AnchoriteMagus@lemmy.world 4 points 1 week ago (2 children)

In my case I meant more like finally buying the supplies I need to finish my trauma bag, get off my ass and finish the mesh repeaters I've been building, get a better plate for my carrier, make a set comms plan with family, that sort of thing.

You know, all the mundane, "not as fun as my guns" stuff thats still just as important.

[–] nondescripthandle@lemmy.dbzer0.com 3 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Ahh gotcha. Ever done one of those stop the bleed classes? The instructor there helped me with kit essentials and the hands on stuff is nice.

[–] AnchoriteMagus@lemmy.world 3 points 1 week ago

Yeah, it was great. I did one about 5 years ago when I thought my first aid from the Navy was getting rusty.

[–] Lucelu2@lemmy.zip 2 points 1 week ago

Also... consider the go-bag and updating those passports if they have expired and GTFO... or, conversely, go analog and to the mountains. Never considered that Go Wolverines might be up against the US Gestopo vs the "Soviets."

[–] EchoCranium@lemmy.zip 3 points 1 week ago (1 children)

I hadn't been loading much of anything since the price of powder and primers went up 2-3x. But, understand that sense of urgency. Got my order of heavy-weight pills recently, so going to dust off my press and spend some time on it this weekend.

[–] Lucelu2@lemmy.zip 2 points 1 week ago

Didn't consider we should have resumed our reloading operation a year ago.

[–] ChunkMcHorkle@lemmy.world 13 points 1 week ago (3 children)

Actually, yes.

I am completely against violent protests. Take a look at my post history; it's real. Letting protests turn violent is a great way to give even more power to the fascists.

But jesus fucking christ, if they're fool enough to take their goddamn goon show on the road and start banging on doors, whatever happens next is on them.

Or to put it another way, for fascists hell bent on racial purity that's one unironic way to chlorinate the piss out of the gene pool, I suppose.

Aka “you can run but you can’t hide!”

(Check Rick and Morty in dreams of characters in dreams)

[–] postmateDumbass@lemmy.world 5 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Self defense is different than protesting.

People invading homes without legal cause is a time for self defense.

[–] ChunkMcHorkle@lemmy.world 1 points 1 week ago

Indeed it is. Look at the comment to which I responded; that's what I was saying.

[–] Auli@lemmy.ca 1 points 1 week ago

Sure but they'll keep escalating so either people do something or just accept it and roll over.

I can't, my state has made it nearly impossible for the average citizen to purchase a firearm and there's now a poll tax I mean racist tax I mean background check fee... Because there's already a federal background check but now my state patrol does the exact same background check using the exact same database but it takes them weeks longer to process and I still have to pay for it. Anyways probably easier for some fascist to roll in and just take my stuff the way the founding fathers intended.

Oh and anything with a threaded barrel is banned too so I hope my family is prepared to go deaf if I ever get around to purchasing that firearm.

[–] AnchoriteMagus@lemmy.world 11 points 1 week ago

Let me introduce you to black powder. Protecting your rights since we kicked it all off on April 19, 1775.

Plus, nowadays you can get a drop-in conversion cylinder to go from powder to modern cartridges without an FFL.

It's in their interest to make exercising your rights difficult. Don't let them.

Funny enough bills were introduced to the state legislature a few days ago to ban all cad or 3d printed firearms. Apparently by requiring an additional device be attached to the printer to detect if it's producing a firearm?

Fun times.

[–] RudeDuner@lemmy.world 6 points 1 week ago

Soooo ignore them and do it anyway. 3D2A

There's not a single state where it's impossible for you to buy a firearm. At most we're talking a wait period and maybe a restriction on "assault style" weapons. Which basically means you can buy a hunting rifle with a high capacity chambered in the same rounds. Effectively the same capabilities

[–] tidderuuf@lemmy.world -5 points 1 week ago (1 children)

It's okay that you are ignorant of some laws. Lookup WA state firearm purchase restrictions for 2026. Enjoy your long and confusing read. And maybe do a little research before you yap about something you have no fucking clue about.

[–] arrow74@lemmy.zip 11 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago)

A free online class, passing a background check, and waiting 10 days is not impossible. As of today the only other requirement is being 21.

Beginning in 2027 you will need a state permit. Which requires nothing new except fingerprinting and a fee ($95). The state then must issue, per the law, the permit in 30 days. This is basically many states concealed carry permit rules.

So yeah this is not impossible by any stretch of the imagination. A simple Google search even reveals that there are gun stores operating in your state. Crazy to imagine they operate with it being impossible to sell guns.

Unless you're under 21 the only thing preventing you from buying a gun is a criminal record, severe mental illness leading to being institutionalized, or laziness.
