I really, really wish that, but americans live in both 1984 and Brave New World at the same time. Too comfortable or docile to act...

For now. Once people start experiencing Great Depression level poverty that will change. Pre-tariff inventories are running out and food and healthcare costs are skyrocketing.

And Trump and Friends are too stupid to realize that fast tracking economic collapse before you've successfully cemented your authoritarian rule means that it's easier for a revolution to happen.

The US still has a strong grip on foreign economies. They will bend over backwards to not lose such a large customer causing prolonged, unnecessary suffering.
