Flippanarchy
Flippant Anarchism. A lighter take on social criticism with the aim of agitation.
Post humorous takes on capitalism and the states which prop it up. Memes, shitposting, screenshots of humorous good takes, discussions making fun of some reactionary online, it all works.
This community is anarchist-flavored. Reactionary takes won't be tolerated.
Don't take yourselves too seriously. Serious posts go to !anarchism@lemmy.dbzer0.com

Absolutely no right-wing jokes. This includes "Anarcho"-Capitalist concepts.

Absolutely no redfash jokes. This includes anything that props up the capitalist ruling classes pretending to be communists.

This is an anarchist comm. You don't have to be an anarchist to post, but you should at least understand what anarchism actually is. We're not here to educate you.

No shaming people for being anti-electoralism. This should be obvious from the above point but apparently we need to make it obvious to the turbolibs who can't control themselves. You have the rest of lemmy to moralize.

So what you're saying is that it's okay to leave actual murderers out, and you think they'll just behave?
Because I know some people that are in prison and that you really really want to keep there, probably forever because these are some sick fucks
I mean, there are reasons why we have jails, just like there are reasons we have police. Good reasons.
Some people simply are assholes, narcissists, or psychopaths.
Reminds me: There is a guy who wants to murder me and the only reason he doesn't, so far anyway, is that he's a chicken shit who is terrified of jail. But seriously, take jail away and he'll kill me in a heartbeat.
I can come up with a few more things but you get the idea...
The recidivism rate for homicide is 0.3-3%.
At that point, a community is basically never going to be dealing with irredeemable murderers.
On the rare chance that they do, they should be given the right to decide how to deal with them. My personal vote would be execution, others may prefer exile, etc.
Likewise this person who would totally kill you if there was no police would still have to deal with an armed community defending each other.
When we say abolish the police/prisons, the expectation isn’t that we become pacifists. It’s that we give the power directly to the community.
Just read the links provided instead of repeating this same old tired line.
Reading? Ew. Why don't I just post my unoriginal thoughts at you instead, ignore all those that have put thought into this before, and land on "nothing should change for the better" because rEaSoNS.
None of us are free, if one of us is chained!
I vibe with a lot of anarchism, but I agree that having no system is probably worse than a flawed system. And I’m a strong proponent of abolishing our current system of punishment, there just needs to be a rehabilitation system in its place.
Fully agree there. The system as-is isn't working and should be abolished, but we'll still need police to, this time, literally serve and protect, and jails for rehabilitation of those that committed real crimes
