I think they aren't happy with people self-censoring their posts to please an algorithm. It's not about their right to self-censor but users feel they have to do it to avoid penalties when they should not have to. Those mild forms of self-censorship are only the beginning. On Youtube you can already see people re-inventing newspeak by replacing ordinary words like "killed" with "unalived" to avoid algorithmic penalties. That's fucked up.
btw, newspeak was inspired by esperanto, because george orwell didn't like it. you know who else didn't like esperanto? adolf hitler.
And your conclusion is? Anyone who does not like newspeak is literally hitler?

just letting you guys know. btw, language is possible to shape your thoughts, using the same morphemes in different contexts represents a link
Yeah, it's pretty terrible. There's a political podcast I was starting to listen to, and the guy on it was talking about how the Venezuelans Trump sent to CECOT were sexually assaulted: he said "They were graped!"
I was like "Did this motherfucker actually say graped?" Yes, yes he did. Obviously, I couldn't keep listening after that. What the fuck is wrong with people?
capitalism...
Yes, this is exactly it. Personally I'm so sick of watching otherwise interesting YouTube videos where the creator uses stupid euphemisms for everything. The corporate mandated sanitisation of the major internet platforms is nightmarish.
Thank fuck for platforms like this where there is no algorithm to please and where you can say what you mean.
I'd agree if we were on an algorithm site. Be mad at the site for censoring people's free speech.
But we're on the Fediverse. It's poster's choice.
If you don't want to see something, just block it and make your own.
I'm not mad at anyone. You said you can't understand why people are angry about this and I wanted to help ^^
I was speaking to a general you, not you in particular. I appreciate your help attempt
