My assumption is that it's mainly from Europeans that don't believe they are actually imperialist. Most are aware of how bad the US Empire is, but Europeans act like they aren't complicit vassals. Though, they do seem to be getting demoted to periphery, hence Starmer's warming relations with the PRC in the last few weeks.

Europeans forget they participated in MNF-I in Iraq and ISAF in Afghanistan, as well as the Unified Protector mission in Libya.

Yep, and they also seem to forget that the death of old-style colonialism doesn't mean that they aren't still super-exploiting the global south with imperialism and neocolonialism.

Tangentially, wrt reading the articles wrt Korean voting, do you know if Hussein's Ba'athist party was still socialist, in name and practice?

The ba'athists were nationalists with some degree of social programs, but was not socialist in name nor practice. A bit of a deep dive, Blowback's first season does a pretty good intro of it.
