What was that "story" where Chapter 1: Defeating evil with the power of love. Chapter 2: Defeating evil with the power of incredible violence?

I'm already at chapter 2.

I remember a movie where there was a guru like that, who convinced everybody on his (the citizens of the protagonist country/village) to not fight, because "love is the most powerful weapon". The protagonists were like "fuck that, you're getting everybody killed"

So when the bad guys army arrived, they were meet with flowers and people just being happy and saying no need to flee or fight. The soldiers were too weird out to attack, so they just stood there, some joined the celebrations.

The lead bad guy got angry and tried to stab the protagonist, but was killed before by a dagger thrown by the pacifist guru. Everybody just looked at then and said "love is the most powerful weapon... But it's not always the fastest"

I have no idea what this movie was, I remember it loked like shit, but that's scene has been living rent free on my mind forever

It sounds reminiscent of the twist in Wizards.

"I'm glad you changed your last name, you sonuvabitch!"

I love these kinds of movies so much. Where's the reward button- NOOOO!

[–] Railcar8095@lemmy.world 4 points 1 day ago

The reward is the lemmies we find along the way

Oh I know that story:

Considering your Country decided not to give me the Nobel Peace Prize for having stopped 8 Wars PLUS, I no longer feel an obligation to think purely of Peace

If they can't be persuaded by talking to them softly, beat them with a big stick.

[–] BarneyPiccolo@lemmy.today 2 points 1 day ago

"Speak softly but carry a big stick," implies that you have to be ready to deploy that Big Stick, and the other side has to believe it.

Unfortunately, the MAGA comedy act of Schmuck & Jeffries has been using the Big Stick to roast marshmallows and weenies, instead of waving it around, and everyone has forgotten about it. It's time to take away the Big Stick, beat Schmuck & Jeffries with it for a while, then use it on MAGA, real hard.
