Plenty of men work overtime so they don’t have to go back to their wife or gf
One of my friends is going through a divorce and one of the reasons his wife gave us is that he would sit in his car in the driveway and look at his phone for a bit when he got home. There are other reasons but that one stuck out to me.
For the good
I answer work messages before I go in so that I can give my wife my attention when I walk in the door. I used to do it in the driveway but now I do it in the parking lot of the shop around the corner.
Yeah. That's my personal indicator that there's something wrong with my work setup; avoiding doing the thing that leads to the unpleasant parts. I guarantee he started hiding in his car after the relationship issues began.
Think there's some nuance needed. Occasionally ppl need some some time to decompress. Im positive a lot of ppl sit in their car after work to avoid their spouse but others just want sometime to themselves. Ive don't that being single and having roommates i actually like. Plus sometimes I was too lazy to get out of the car
Yeah, I get it. When I get home I don't want to talk to ANYONE I don't care if I like them or not. Just need a fucking minute to myself to decompress and switch gears. I can't speak much to his situation but knowing her and seeing how she greeted him at the door with shit when I was over there on more than one occasion I could see why he'd want to take a second before walking into that.
Fair to say it's only a sign when it starts to happen regularly.
you know, i've always been wondering about whether that is secretly a covert plan of the wife so the husband works longer hours, makes more money and makes the family richer. i'd seriously not put that past some people i've met in my life ...
That was all the salesmen at one place I worked. Mormons with tons of kids. They'd go anywhere in the world to get away from them.
To be fair, parenting is a pretty shitty gig. Expectations are high and support is low. People judge everything you do, especially those who have never done it themselves. Even with good kids its a thankless slog most of the time. God help you if you get a hard one.
This is also why people should seriously think about if they are ready to have a kid or want to have a kid.
Millions or tens/hundreds of millions of kids have parents that never really wanted them and just gave in to the biological clock and/or social pressures and the kids have a shitty childhood. It sucks to be unwanted, and kids can really feel it.
In the early nineties I knew a Mormon man with a happy housewife & 10 kids and he would run a marathon by himself every day just to be out of the house.

Nope. It's a trans-generational ploy since time immemorial. The worst ones are the bosses who ask you to stay so they don't have to go home, but it can happen to anyone.
Yeah but who are the bosses currently mainly from? Exactly, boomers. Also, younger generations rather tend to break up instead of enduring a bad relationship/marriage.
Get a job and you’ll see most bosses aren’t boomers
