The agency, which regulates U.S. passports, began issuing cease and desist orders to not-for-profit libraries in late fall, informing them they were no longer authorized to participate in the Passport Acceptance Facility program as of Friday.

This is happening at the same time as Trump is trying to force through voter ID requirements. Just noting that.

Yeah, that's definitely not a coincidence.

What's kind of funny though is I'll bet Democrats are far more likely to already have a passport than Republicans. Conservatives aren't generally the world savvy types. I don't think the requirements bill will pass but, if it did, it would probably be another dummymander situation.

I think the bill is just a virtue signaling combined with trying to build on the illusion of insecure elections. The library thing is probably just another case of the right hand not knowing what the other right hand is doing.
