Neo-liberals aren't the left. They like to pretend it while giving the actual left the proverbial middle finger.
We’re too uneducated, by and large, to have much of a left left, especially not “a left” with principles, conviction, reasoning, or self-respect left. The internet and especially the more recent sloppocalypse has had dramatic effects on the inequality of knowledge and understanding in the “free world” by their own “free press”
There has been a surprisingly concerted effort for decades, especially within media, to conflate the two parties as opposites when they are not. The parties and their leadership seem fine with that as well.
