Good.

I want this version of the United States to end as quickly as possible.

P.S. This shitstain loser was 100% onboard with Jan 6 and did prison time for ignoring a Congressional subpoena. He's a traitor.

A non-exhaustive list of what conservatives say will end the United States:

Tariffs

Socialism

Trans people

Gay marriage

Obamacare

Abortions

Immigration

Mail in voting

Civil Rights

Women voting

Ending slavery

Nothing makes me more interested in socialism than when conservatives explain all the awful things that are socialism. Universal healthcare, you say? Free education? Feeding children and homeless people? Tell me more about how terrible socialism is... I'm almost there....

[–] Tiger666@lemmy.ca 5 points 4 days ago (5 children)

None of that is socialism. Can we just stop with the capitalistic propaganda?

Those are social programs not socialism.

I get your point but you are not helping the cause by misinforming people about what socialism is.

Socialism is democracy in the workplace. It's not single-payer Healthcare.

[–] MagicShel@lemmy.zip 5 points 4 days ago* (last edited 4 days ago) (1 children)

You missed my point a bit. They are promoting socialism by using that label as a scare tactic for anything remotely good for people — but instead of scaring people off social programs, it just makes socialism (largely unrelated to the actual programs) sound attractive.

We are in total agreement. This is a reaction to misinformation, not the spreading of it — if people fail to understand the subtext, they aren't going to get what I'm laying down in any case.

I'll grant it's probably more obscure in this post than I generally am about this point.

Tariffs

Well, that's what they used to say prior to Taco, showing what good little authoritarians they truly are.

Now they say that ending Taco's tariffs will end America. 🤯

[–] DarkFuture@lemmy.world 5 points 4 days ago

Electric vehicles.

People with blue hair.

People who aren't Christian.

People with brown skin.

People marrying who they love.

Abortions.

Sympathy.

Empathy.

It's almost like conservatives are terrified little chickenshits.

[–] MisterCurtis@lemmy.world 83 points 5 days ago (1 children)

After seeing the version of the United States they want, I'm okay with it ending.

American here, I fully agree

[–] LoafedBurrito@lemmy.world 21 points 4 days ago

The nazi's must make everything an emergency to bypass law and order.

Meanwhile the rest of us are wondering why ground beef is $8 a lb and all produce when up 20% JUST LAST WEEK. Oh yeah, it's trumps fault with his stupid tariffs and ruining all global trade relations with the US.

[–] phoenixz@lemmy.ca 17 points 4 days ago* (last edited 4 days ago) (1 children)

It would be "the end of the United States" if President Trump's sweeping global tariffs are ultimately struck down by the Supreme Court, White House trade adviser Peter Navarro said Sunday.

No it wouldn't. Not the tariffs, anyway.

The US was fine before these tariffs and it'll be sort of fine after

That is way WAY worse is the permanent damage Trump has done to the US, most of it will take decades to repair.

It's image, never was great, but now even the positive aspects are all but shit.

It's soft power, all gone

It's trading; Canada and Europe have started processes of getting rid of business with the US and it will take years before all of it is done, but when it's done, the US will have a shit tonne less trade with the entire world.

It's science: scientists are leaving the US, Canada is poaching doctors and nurses there, and well, one only needs to watch the news. Science in the US is now one of kiss up trump, include religion, or some conspiracy theory.

It's green technology sector: they're even trying to get rid of the wind mills that have already been built FFS.

It's allies: trump had been nicer with its enemies than it's allies and at this point it's quite clear that no one has to expect the US to help out unless they're willing to kiss the ring. Fuck that shit.

The US has destroyed itself within a year. Things were always shit, but people kinda went with it because there were still good parts. All that is gone now.

Its weather forecasting and disaster response systems, all but gone

It's readiness to respond to the next pandemic: don't make me laugh. There will be blood, and lots of it. I'm almost wishing for the next pandemic just to see the US turn into a leper colony while the rest of the world lives on.

Tourism? Who the fuck would want to go to the US now? Come to the US! See our grand Canyon and 50% chance you'll see our torture prison facilities in El Salvador! Canadians and Europeans are staying away and I'm wondering how the next world Cup will do...

Good luck to those still living there, I expect things to get a lot worse in the next decades

[–] Cort@lemmy.world 5 points 4 days ago

Seems more like they're admitting they spent all their political capital, and burned too many bridges with the tariffs. They're afraid Europe, Canada, etc will keep their retaliatory tariffs even if Trump's aren't enforceable.

[–] MourningDove@lemmy.zip 31 points 4 days ago

Electing Trump would be the end of the United States, advises everyone with a functional brain.

[–] f1error@lemmy.world 38 points 5 days ago
[–] CharlesDarwin@lemmy.world 48 points 5 days ago

My word, these people are just so delusional.

[–] logicbomb@lemmy.world 41 points 5 days ago (3 children)

Keeping things the same as they were before would be the "end of the United States"?

How many times have I asked why people thought it was right to be conservative, and they said, "If it ain't broke, don't fix it," or something along those lines?

Now, I guess they're just throwing that whole pretext out, as well. Not that I ever believed people really thought that way. Try and find a conservative who doesn't lie about what they believe.

[–] some_designer_dude@lemmy.world 19 points 5 days ago

I don’t think they believe anything. They know they should feel the same as their in-group, or they’re out. Everything they say is like an octopus inking everywhere. A distraction.

[–] Soup@lemmy.world 6 points 4 days ago (2 children)

“If it ain’t broke(for me) don’t fix it!” They like being on top, and conservatism gives them that. It also hands out a lot of pain to other people but they don’t care about that.

[–] vividspecter@aussie.zone 6 points 4 days ago

Not only do they not care, inflicting harm is the entire point for these people.

[–] aesthelete@lemmy.world 2 points 4 days ago

Yep it's wilhout over and over again. It's the heirarchy that they crave. They don't care about the means as long as it's "my people on top, your people squashed face down into the mud".

It's, at its core, all the same. From reaganism to the ku klux klan.

People that want freedoms, rights, and dignity for all people regardless of sex, age, disability, or skin tone are their enemies, and will remain their enemies no matter which form the "conservatives" occupy.

[–] NABDad@lemmy.world 6 points 5 days ago (1 children)

What they are trying to conserve is not how it is, it's how it was.

You know, back before the Civil War when they could own people.

[–] hitmyspot@aussie.zone 6 points 4 days ago (1 children)

Back when taxes for rich people were about 80%? And a family could live comfortably on a single salary. Or be wealthy with a job with a degree requirement? Oh, not those times, just the slaves, huh.

[–] NABDad@lemmy.world 4 points 4 days ago

Exactly. They don't want to go back to a time when you could be happy, healthy, and raise a family.

They want to go all the way past those times to Antebellum America, when there were no Federal income taxes (US government raised most of it's funding from things like tariffs...sound familiar?), when kids died from diseases that we've since been able to prevent with vaccines, and when you had to have the kids that survived work the mines to keep the family from starving.

They wish they was in the land of cotton.

[–] zod000@lemmy.dbzer0.com 17 points 4 days ago (2 children)

Even if we cast aside their bullshit claims, that has nothing to do with whether it is illegal. Tariffs and taxes are always supposed to come from congress, this dumb fascist fuck just doesn't care and keeps getting away with it.

Whenever the MAGA refers to "America" or "the United States" they are ALWAYS referring to Trump himself.

[–] Revan343@lemmy.ca 2 points 4 days ago (1 children)

Well yeah, that's how monarchies work; the king is the state and the state is the king

L'etat, c'est moi

If he had any personality (abrasive whininess doesn't count), you could call it a cult of personality.

[–] Montreal_Metro@lemmy.ca 11 points 4 days ago (1 children)

It’s already over. Hahahahah.

[–] onslaught545@lemmy.zip 3 points 4 days ago

It ended January 20th

[–] besselj@lemmy.ca 31 points 5 days ago

*"End of our fragile egos"

[–] prole@lemmy.blahaj.zone 11 points 4 days ago* (last edited 4 days ago) (1 children)

Imagine reading this and being like, "oh yeah that tracks."

I just can't anymore.

Can someone please just nuke the fucking planet already and get it over with?

[–] DarkFuture@lemmy.world 3 points 4 days ago

Don't worry. We've barely had nukes for even a single lifetime. On a long enough timescale I'm pretty sure it'll end up happening.

[–] aeternum@lemmy.blahaj.zone 14 points 4 days ago* (last edited 4 days ago) (1 children)

wow. I wonder how the US existed for like 60 years (I think reagan was the last with huge tariffs?) without the massive tariffs before trump brought them in?

[–] postman@literature.cafe 7 points 4 days ago (1 children)

Reagan ended his term 36 years ago. Don't make us that old for being there!

[–] HubertManne@piefed.social 7 points 4 days ago

End of the united states like under obama and biden and clinton. bring it. Im fine with end of reagan, bush, trump america.

[–] MisterOwl@lemmy.world 6 points 4 days ago

Good. Let it end.

[–] UnderpantsWeevil@lemmy.world 11 points 5 days ago

Tariff Revenue prior to January was sub-1% and is now in excuse of 15% of imports.

Amazing how quickly the Republicans can normalize a heterodox economic theory when they've got Silicon Valley media echoing them.

[–] Bakkoda@sh.itjust.works 7 points 5 days ago

Please stop. My doctor says it's not supposed to be hard for more than 4 hours.

[–] teamevil@lemmy.world 4 points 4 days ago

This guy's a goddamn ghoul

[–] FreshParsnip@lemmy.ca 6 points 5 days ago

Is that a threat?

[–] homesweethomeMrL@lemmy.world 6 points 5 days ago

Idiot shitbags.

[–] Tolookah@discuss.tchncs.de 6 points 5 days ago

... Because he's going to complete his coup and remove the courts?

[–] MapleEngineer@lemmy.world 4 points 5 days ago (3 children)

Would the US be better or worse off if someone fed Peter Navarro into a wood chipper on live TV?

Honestly might considering they've cut taxes so much and lost so much faith in American securities that this loss of revenue could send the states over the edge.
