Fuck AI

"We did it, Patrick! We made a technological breakthrough!"

A place for all those who loathe AI to discuss things, post articles, and ridicule the AI hype. Proud supporter of working people. And proud booer of SXSW 2024.

AI, in this case, refers to LLMs, GPT technology, and anything listed as "AI" meant to increase market valuations.

But for a little while the stockholders were happy. And that’s what counts.

I remember HP in its prime where they would make breakthrough technology and everything was nicely engineered and built to last. Their oscilloscopes and programmable power supplies were made like tanks. Their calculators still work today. Shame really.

The old 4200 series laserjet printers were similar. Unkillable. People still sell them refurbished and completely rebuilt.

How far they've fallen.

Nike has an office in Memphis. They had about 30 people in HR. Now they have two and are working those people to death. The rest? Replaced with AI. No bullshit.

Nvidia currently represents 15% of the total GDP for the United States of America. That's absolutely insane and should not be remotely possible.

The AI bubble WILL burst and it's going to hurt.

To be fair, it's not like HP software could get any worse.

HP is so intentionally evil using AI might actually make their product more usable on accident

Pretty sure HP press releases were part of the CGPT training material. If anything this might create some evil feedback loop.

Imagine your printer launching ChatGPT to tell you print out an essay, telling you why you shouldn't replace your toner with off-brand version xD
