Maybe if she didn't seem so concerned with reward money she wouldn't be so suspicious.

Plus it sounds like it's based on them arresting someone so she wouldn't get anything for finding it.

The article says only 10k of it is contingent on someone being arrested and convicted.

Still unsurprising that the police want to investigate when a direct family member of a guy who is known to steal copper for profit miraculously finds a huge hunk of copper and wants to turn it in for profit.
