Justice Department leadership is prepared to use its rule-making authority to declare transgender people as mentally ill and deprive them of their Second Amendment right to possess firearms, according to two Justice officials who shared internal discussions with CNN.

Deliberations at the highest levels of the DOJ follow the recent mass shooting at Annunciation Catholic Church in Minneapolis, an attack police say was carried out by a 23-year-old former student at the church’s school who may have been a transgender person or a de-transitioned individual. Two children were killed in the attack, and 21 others were injured.

And when the prey has been defanged, then come The Camps.

[–] ShaggySnacks@lemmy.myserv.one 7 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Don’t forget all the conservative wife beaters. They have to keep their guns too.

[–] Railing5132@lemmy.world 4 points 1 year ago

You mean cops?

[–] ssroxnak@lemmy.world 9 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Don't worry, everyone! The red flag laws will make this legal!

Hahahahahaha I bet removing trans peoples guns will be the straw that finally breaks the camels back in the US. LOLOLOL what a bunch of pathetic fash.

You would hope. I mean even the NRA came out against this bullshit! But I do Uber in a smallish town, and the shit I've heard...

I look like the typical masculine "ideal" these idiots have in their head; y'all, well built, blonde hair, blue eyes. So they tend to over share. And I've gotten a couple complaints about "illegal driving" which is fucking laughable to anyone who rides with me, and Uber cause they use telemetrics on the phone out the ass, so they can see how my driving was.

But I don't just let shit go anymore. If you say something stupid I'm going to inform you of the truth and make you feel dumb while I do it. Recently some dude was gushing about alligator Auschwitz, and when I told him they are shutting it down you could see... Nothing, there was absolutely nothing behind this dude's eyes.

He also bragged about how him and his girl "are" Marines then immediately tells me he got kicked out of basic forrrr(drumroll please).... Selling fucking meth! These people vote.

Can't ban guns, won't work.

Hey, I know. Let's ban transgendered people. That will work.

[–] sturmblast@lemmy.world 7 points 1 year ago (4 children)

I'm curious at just how many "trans" people they think have guns in the first place. Let alone the bullshit science behind their reasons.

Everyone always says why not provide free mental health care to prevent shootings.

Oh shit

Where are the 2fa people howling to keep gun rights? They seem to be fine with this. Maybe their whining was never about guns at all?

[–] SupraMario@lemmy.world 6 points 1 year ago

https://www.cnn.com/2025/09/05/politics/nra-transgender-gun-control

Nra is even against it.

It's 2A people btw. 2fa is two factor authentication and has nothing to do with the 2nd.

The MAGA DOJ drafting policies in language reminiscent of the 3ʳᵈ reich is so on brand.

[–] FreshParsnip@lemmy.ca 4 points 1 year ago

I thought the official position of the government was that transgender people didn't exist

[–] Modern_medicine_isnt@lemmy.world 3 points 1 year ago (1 children)

This is probably just another distraction. I don't think the executive brach has the power to declare someone mentally ill for the purposes of existing gun legislation. They would need a new law through congress, and they won't get enough votes for that.

[–] BarneyPiccolo@lemmy.today 11 points 1 year ago

Legislation? That's so old school. The really important stuff, like repealing Constitutional Amendments, is all done by Executive Orders these days.

[–] alt_xa_23@lemmy.world 3 points 1 year ago

Gun control for thee, but not for me
