It's a lame thing that happens now and then and feels orchestrated like it's an attempt to brand lemmy as "quirky" or like early reddit.
It's sort of like watching someone who doesn't understand what a joke is come up with a meme.
Seriously. It feels like a bunch of versions of that kid who thought “I’M SO RANDOM” and just saying random shit was a personality have taken over Lemmy for a bit and the rest of us just have to roll our eyes at it and be subjected to it for a while.
I’m so tired, man.
So, this is basically how they retconned Jet into an ensign.
He was first introduced as a lieutenant with two pips, and the second picture OP posted is basically saying that it was actually just delicious street corn on his collar, not a second pip.
I hope this cleared things up.
