Please read the whole question carefully, I am looking for a very specific functionality

I am looking for a self hosted pocket alternative

There are quite a few out there that I've looked at however I have quite a specific requirement..

When using pocket I used a firefox extension / add-on: In My Pocket

This extension / add-on had a relatively simple feature which is essential to me

It has a buttons which summons a little drop-down menu which lists all your saved url

It has a search box and every url has a button to remove it from the list

Does anyone have any recommendations for a self hosted application which has a Firefox extension / add-on including this functionality? (Dropdown, search box, button to remove url / bookmark)

Thanks in advance!

I think wallabag is the self-hosted go-to for this, but I'm not sure of the extensions for it.

I used to use pocket because it allowed me to sync to my Kobo reader. Kobo have struck a deal with Instapaper and it works in a similar way.

The official instapaper plugin doesn't do what In My Pocket does, unfortunately.

It has the Firefox extension "Wallabagger", open-source and all. You just have to create a token in Wallabag, link it, and then it works like a charm. Doesn't work exactly like OP wants though.

I've been happy with wallabag.

I don't think the extension meets your list/search requirements though.

Wallabag looks nice, could you point me to the (firefox) addon / extension which has the functionality I describe?

https://github.com/wallabag/wallabagger

It just lets you save, tag, and delete though. No list unfortunately.

Aw, that's a shame

Thank you for pointing it out though, appreciate your time and efforts

No problem. Good luck on your search.

There is a Firefox Extention but I don't know how many of the features you mentioned it has as I have exclusively used Karakeep on my phone and the app has all those features.

I've been using linkwarden for over a year now and am very happy with it

[–] enlisted6048@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 points 6 months ago* (last edited 6 months ago) (1 children)

Would love to use linkwarden, looks like it fulfills all my needs

Except I can't seem to find a firefox add-on / extension, with the functionality I describe could you point me to it?

Ah I missed that part, scanned the beginning/end, apologies. The api for this is all there (unsure about search) but I haven't come across an extension that does this. Doesn't seem extremely hard in theory, though

Yeah there is a search api as well:

I think Joplin has a feature

Interesting, a note taking app with a form of bookmarking feature?

I'm intrigued, could you point me to the (firefox) addon / extension which has the functionality I describe?

I think you need Joplin installed and running too, but not sure.

you also need to install the Joplin clipper extension in Joplin, along with the Firefox Joplin clipper extension:

https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/joplin-web-clipper/

You might want to open a feature request for one of the active projects. Shiori has a Firefox extension which has "search bookmarks" mode, which is close to what you are asking for, but is missing the remove bookmark feature.
